The Samlex DSC-1200A-48 is a dual source battery charger that keeps a 48 volt auxiliary battery charged from a vehicle's own 12 VDC alternator or a 120 VAC connection such as shore power or a generator. It is designed for vehicles with an alternator capable of at least 100 amps of output and draws 12 volt power only while the engine is running, so it never drains the vehicle's starting battery when parked. When plugged into an available AC source, it automatically switches to AC input, keeping the 48 volt battery charged whether the vehicle is on the road or parked at a dock, yard, or campsite.
Rated for 1200 watts and up to 25 amps of output at 48 VDC, the DSC-1200A-48 charger supports lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4), flooded lead acid, gel, and AGM batteries, with user selectable charging profiles for each chemistry. It also communicates over CAN bus with Vanguard LiFePO4 battery packs, coordinating charge voltage, current, and interlocks directly with the battery's management system. Optional voltage temperature compensation, a user selectable low voltage disable function, and an ignition sense interlock give you fine control over how and when the unit charges.
Built for demanding mobile and marine environments, the DSC-1200A-48 operates from -4 - 140 °F (-20 - 60 °C), carries a 2G vibration rating, and includes a full range of protections including reverse polarity, over and under voltage on both the AC and DC sides, short circuit, and over temperature conditions. The Samlex DSC-1200A-48's compact design allows for fits into tight electrical bays common to specialty vehicles, mobile command and utility platforms, marine installations, and off-grid 48 volt systems.
